Goal of this blog
Hello everybody,
I am interested in surfing the net for new products and new services. Keep all information for my own only is not a effective way. I would like to share with every people the information that I have. Besides, I can help the owner of websites that I posted here advertise their products and/or services. Of course, I also would like to earn a little of bucks for my own life.
Thank you for everyone who visited my blog and hoping that you can find useful information.

Laser Hair Removal Manhattan
Laser Hair Removal Manhattan
Laser hair removal is the newest and biggest hit in unwanted hair removal. This new technology is the best of virtually painless applications that can remove the unwanted hair and leave no scar formation whatsoever. This is some of the best news for people who are tired of the old ways. The former treatments were not only painful in most cases but they also had the bad habit of leaving scars where the hair was removed. This pretty much defeated the purpose of have the hair removal treatment in the first place. Going from ugly hair to ugly scar is no progress.
Laser hair removal for instance laser hair removal Manhattan is very expensive. While this technology is somewhat centered around the Manhattan high class area it is still expensive in all of the areas of the world that it is offered. This is due in part to the fact that it is basically a new technology and there are not a lot of places that offer this type of service. Then you add in the cost of the equipment that can run in the many thousands of dollars or more and you see why this particular treatment is overly costly and probably will not drop in price any time in the near future. While a lot of the former treatments are still widely available, the laser hair removal is still the best in the business and will be more than worth the money in the end.

How Hair Removal by Laser Works
This page provides laser hair removal information and facts. It explains the method of permanent removal and how it destroys hair permanently. The information in this guide is based on various reports and articles that have been written.
Laser hair removal works by sending a beam of laser light to a group of hair follicles with enough power to disable or destroy the root, but not enough power to harm the surrounding skin. This process is called selective photothermolysis. It is selective because it targets only the hair and not the skin. Photo means light and thermolysis means destroying with heat. The surrounding skin is usually cooled. Some methods include a gel, a spray, or a cooling tip.
The Laser beam finds the hair follicles by targeting the substance that gives skin and hair dark color - melanin. Therefore, the ideal candidate for laser has dark hair and light skin. The laser will not work on people with red, white, gray or true blond hair. The hot laser light will also be attracted to the melanin in the skin, so people with suntans, or dark skin types are at more of a risk for discoloration of pigment and other side effects.
Hair Removal by Laser is NOT ELECTROLYSIS. Electrolysis is a method of removing individual hairs one-at-a-time by directing an electric current into each hair follicle. This is the high tech/modern day method of destroying massive amounts of hair follicles with a simple trigger pull.
Laser only destroys hair in its active growth phase, the anagen phase. This phase lasts several years, and up to 85% of our hair is in that phase at any given time. The good thing is that during this phase, the hair has an abundance of melanin and the hair follicle is easily targeted.
Types of lasers
There are four different kinds of laser light that are commonly used for hair removal:
* Alexandrite- such as the Candela GentleLase Plus.
* Ruby- such as the EpiTouch or the Epilaser.
* Diode- such as the Coherent Light Sheer.
* ND, and LP ND Yag- such as the Candela GentleYag and the Altus Cool Glide.
These are all effective, fast, comfortable and safe for permanent hair removal.
There are several factors that a laser technician can often control to customize a treatment for efficacy, safety and comfort:
* Pulse length- long pulsed lasers are considered safest.
* Fluence- Selection of energy levels can be varied for skin type.
* Delay- The time in between pulses of light affects how much the skin and hair follicle are allowed to cool off
* Spot Size – Affects the speed and penetration of the laser. A larger spot penetrates deeper. A good selection of spot sizes helps the technician reach the hair at the depth at which it grows.
* Cooling- The surrounding skin may be protected by a gel, spray or cooled tip pressed against the skin.
Hair Removal Methods - Waxing, Electrolysis, Epilating
This page offers facts about methods of hair removal other than laser (shaving, depilatories, epilation-tweezing, waxing or sugaring, threading, electrolysis and light hair removal). Based on the advice here you can decide whether laser hair removal is right for you. The information on this page is offered as a guide to the different options available to you.
Shaving: Is fast and affordable. It can cause cuts, irritation and ingrown hairs. It only lasts a few days at best.
Depilatories: Are a cream made of chemicals that dissolve the hair. They are fast and affordable. They can cause irritation, and smell bad. The results only last a few days.
Epilation-Tweezing: Is affordable. It can be painful, is slow, and can cause ingrown hairs and changes in pigment. You need to wait until there is outgrowth to pluck. Results may last from a few days to a few weeks.
Waxing and Sugaring: Is fast. It can be costly, is painful, can cause ingrown hairs, and can cause irritation. You need to have considerable outgrowth of hair to wax. Results can last from one month to one and a half months.
Threading: Is when a thread is twisted in a way to catch hairs and pull them out. It is fast. It can be costly, painful, and can cause ingrown hairs, folliculitis, irritation, and changes in pigmentation.
Electrolysis: An electric current travels down a needle which is inserted in the skin next to the hair shaft. As a result the root is (hopefully) destroyed and is then tweezed. The process can be extremely time consuming (see extensive information on electrolysis), painful and expensive. It can also cause hyper/hypo-pigmentation.
Light Hair Removal: Also known as laser assisted hair removal is a method of hair removal using pulsed light to disable the root of the hair. It can result in long term hair removal. In the hands of a skilled technician, light hair removal can be as effective as laser hair removal. As permanent as other lasers, it is known to allow for more treatment options for clients that may not be good candidates for laser hair removal.

Goodbye, Razor.Hello Laser!
Here are the Facts. No More Wax!
At Smooth Synergy™, we are confident in our state of the art lasers, and in what our results have proven-we have the most effective lasers out there. They are FDA approved for permanent hair reduction. We can effectively treat all skin types. So, whether you are light skinned, dark skinned or any shade in between, Smooth Synergy™ can treat you comfortably, safely and effectively.
We use the Candela GentleLASE Plus and Candela GentleYAG for permanent hair reduction. The way in which these lasers remove body hair is pretty simple: when the laser's light touches the hair, the pigment of the hair itself absorbs the light of the laser and transforms it into heat. This heat kills the hair follicle.

Laser Hair Removal in New York
Smooth Synergy™ uses the Candela GentleLase Plus and Candela GentleYAG for Laser Hair Removal. To understand how these lasers work, it helps to know a little more about how hair grows and how laser light vaporizes unwanted tissue.
How Hair Grows
Hair forms in a pouch-like structure below the skin called a hair follicle. What we see as hair is actually the hair shaft, which is the keratinized, hardened tissue that grows from this follicle.
Humans have more hair follicles per square inch of skin than most higher primates, including chimpanzees and gorillas. Because most of this hair is fine and pale (called vellus hair), it usually is not visible to the naked eye. Consider this: the forehead has more hair follicles than any other part of the body. The thicker, fully pigmented hair most people consider "real hair" is called terminal hair. This hair is found on scalp, eyebrows, legs, backs, underarms. This is the hair the GentleLase treats.
Everyone's hair grows differently, depending on age, weight, metabolism, hormones, ethnicity, medications, and other factors. But all hair goes through three distinct growth phases:
1) Active growth phase (called the anagen phase), which lasts up to several years. At any given time, the majority (85%) of our body hair is in this phase. During anagen, the hair has an abundance of melanin.
2) Regressive phase (catagen phase), which lasts about two weeks, during which the hair stops growing but is not yet shed. About 3-4% of our body hair is in this phase at any given time.
3) Resting phase (telogen phase), which lasts 5-6 weeks, at the end of which the hair falls out and a new hair begins to form. Approximately 10-13% of our body hair is in this phase at any one time.
The GentleLase and GentleYAG most effectively disable hair that is in the active growth (anagen) phase. Because all the hair in a treated area may not be in the anagen phase, more than one laser treatment may be necessary to remove the hair that subsequently enters the growth phase.
Take it off!
Lasers can help eliminate hair from just about anywhere on the body. Here are a few of the most popular areas from which to have hair removed.
How the Candela GentleLase and Candela GentleYAG work
A laser produces a beam of highly concentrated light. Different types of lasers produce different colors of light.
The light emitted by the GentleLase and GentleYAG is absorbed by the pigment (melanin) located in hair follicles (melanin pigments give hair its color) and hair shaft. The laser pulses for a fraction of a second, just long enough to vaporize the pigment - disabling several hair follicles at a time to eliminate or significantly impede the hair's regrowth - but not long enough to damage the surrounding skin. These particular lasers have a special contact-cooling handpiece which further protects the epidermis (upper layer of skin). This patented method of epidermal preservation allows delivery of more laser energy deeper into the hair follicle.
Additionally, the GentleLase and GentleYAG lasers are able to treat a broader range of skin and hair types than most other hair-removal lasers. They are delicate enough for a woman's fine, sensitive skin and robust enough for a man's beard, back, or arms.
What does the treatment involve?
Eye protection during treatment is required. The area or areas to be treated are then shaved, if this has not already been done at home. A small handpiece is placed against the skin and a burst of coolant is applied as the laser is activated. The coolant allows for a no messy, no gel needed treatment. The handpiece is repositioned and the laser is activated again. The size or the area treated will determine the number of laser activations, or "pulses", required. Each pulse is about the size of a quarter.
Is laser hair removal for you?
Although laser hair removal is generally safe, some people make better candidates for the procedure than others. People who may not make ideal candidates include those being treated for removal of red, blonde or gray hair, those being treated with isotretinoin, those prone to keloid scarring, those with suppressed immune systems, those susceptible to herpes infections in the treatment area and women with polycystic ovaries.
How many sessions are needed?
The number of sessions will vary for each person. Usually, we recommend between 5-8 visits for best results per area. Some areas of the body may require fewer sessions. During your first visit, the laser disables those follicles in the "active" phase of the growth cycle. Follicles in the "dormant" phase will not be affected. Since follicles cycle through "active" and "dormant" phases, additional sessions may be desired once the "dormant" follicles become "active".
Is the laser treatment painful?
Everyone's experience is different. Some areas of the body are more sensitive than others. Patients say that it feels like a rubber band snapping against their skin. Most patients report that any discomfort experienced is tolerable, and well worth the great results they achieve. For more sensitive patients, anesthetic creams can be applied prior to the treatment.
How long are the laser treatment sessions?
Depending on the area being treated, it can range from 10 minutes to an hour.
How far apart should I space my treatments?
It's usually best to space your visits 4-8 weeks apart as it can take about this long before new growth is observed.
What do I need to do to prep for my laser treatment?
Make sure you have not waxed or tweezed in the area to be treated at least 3-4 weeks prior to your treatment. It's a good idea to shave the area being treated the day before your appointment. You must not be tan-by the sun, creams, sprays or a booth before your treatment.
Are there any risks or side effects?
Immediately after the treatment the skin will look pink and slightly swollen, similar to a sunburn. This usually subsides within an hour or two and the skin returns to normal. In very few cases, a darkening or lightening of the treated skin may occur. Burning or blistering of the skin is also possible. While these adverse laser hair removal reactions are temporary, they can last a few months in extreme cases.
What are the advantages over electrolysis?
With electrolysis, the operator inserts a needle into the hair shaft with the intention of reaching the follicle, then sends a small electrical charge designed to disable the follicle. The operator then removes that particular hair with a tweezer. Hair removal is much faster with a laser as the laser is pulsed about once per second across the surface of the skin. Each "pulse" of laser light disables a large numbers of hair follicles. Electrolysis operators can only treat those hairs and hair shafts that that are straight and they can see and reach. A laser treats any "active" follicle, even if the hair has not yet reached the surface of the skin.

Laser Hair Removal
Lasers are combating excess, unwanted hair and effectively removing it much faster, more reliably and more comfortably than other standard methods like electrolysis, shaving and tweezing. They have proven to be a giant step forward in hair removal technology.
Excessive hair growth is the result of heredity, hormonal factors, and some medications. Commonly treated areas are the face, back, neck, legs, bikini line, chest and underarms. Any skin area can be treated except eyelids. For optimal results an initial series of four (4) treatments four (4) weeks apart is suggested.
The treatment utilizes a laser beam to target the pigment located in hair follicles. The laser pulses for only a fraction of a second to vaporize the pigment, thus destroying or significantly impeding the hair's ability to regrow, but not long enough to affect the surrounding skin. The laser offers a cooling device that automatically cools on contact to protect the skin while directing the laser energy to the hair follicle. The laser has a specific wavelength, a 'set pulse duration' (pulse width), and a carefully defined beam diameter (called the spot size).

FDA clearance for safety and effectiveness achieved in 1997.
FAQ
Laser hair removal is the non-invasive removal of unwanted facial and body hair with the assistance of a laser or intense pulsed light source.
The procedure is done in the office with topical cream for anesthesia. The dark color of the hair (melanin) absorbs the light energy deactivating the hair follicle's ability to grow. After the treatment, your skin will be sensitive, slightly red and possibly swollen. This reaction subsides within hours and your skin returns to normal. You may also experience a slight burning sensation of the skin, comparable with a sunburn. Most of the time no special after care is necessary. If you wish, ice packs or a gentle soothing lotion, like Aloe Vera, can be applied to the area. On rare occasions, blistering and/or scabbing may occur. If these reactions occur, the healing will take longer and will require more intensive after care.
Avoid sun exposure or tanning for at least 2 months after treatment. Exposure to the sun may cause temporary skin changes and "browning". A sunscreen with SPF 15 or higher should be applied.
Within 2 or 3 weeks after the treatment you will notice 'regrowth' or stubble. Some of this is dead hair being expelled by the skin, and some is growing hair that will require additional treatments.
The laser only treats hairs that are in their active growth phase. The number of active follicles and their cycle time will vary with each area of the body. Follicles that are in a dormant phase (at least two-thirds) are not affected. Additional treatments are performed as hairs that were dormant become active and begin to grow. The number of sessions will vary with each patient and body area. It's important to realize that multiple treatments are certainly required.
Unlike traditional methods such as shaving, plucking and waxing, laser hair removal is intended to provide long lasting or permanent reduction in hair.
The laser targets the pigment within the hair follicle (melanin), disabling the follicle. The laser is designed to selectively target the follicle without damaging the surrounding skin.
For women, the lip and chin are the most common areas we treat followed by the bikini line, legs and axilla (armpits). For men the back, shoulder and upper arms are the most popular areas. It is possible to treat most areas of the body.
Laser hair removal is performed as an in office procedure without the need for anesthesia and with immediate return to sedentary activities. Most people experience only a slight stinging or feel nothing at all as the laser pulses are applied. Ms. Burns personally evaluates each patient for hair color, texture, skin type and other medical factors prior to laser hair removal and personally performs the actual hair removal process.
As with any medical or surgical procedure there are risks although with laser hair removal they are minimal. Ms. Burns will review all potential risks with you at the time of your consultation prior to laser hair removal.
Yes. Any amount of suntan will make the laser treatment less effective and increase the chances for an adverse effect such as blisters or burning. Therefore sun bathing and tanning are to be avoided prior to the procedure. Additionally, as the follicle beneath the skin contains the melanin that the laser targets waxing, plucking and electrolysis should be avoided for several weeks prior to the procedure. Additionally, the laser should be avoided in cases of active outbreaks of cold sores or Herpes Simplex virus.
Costs for laser hair removal vary depending upon the area of the body treated, and we will be happy to quote you prices by phone. Laser hair removal is one of the least expensive procedures in plastic surgery and is affordable for nearly everyone.
With electrolysis each hair must be individually treated with an electric current with risk of electric shock, infection and scarring. Electrolysis can take months or even years to complete. The laser non-invasively treats an area with many hairs at one time. For example, it typically takes about thirty seconds to treat the upper lip.
The ideal candidate has dark hair and light skin. Dark hairs absorb more of the laser light and lighter skin allows more transmission of the laser light into the follicle.

VoIP and Home Security Monitoring
canvoip
I was wondering if any of the VoIP subscribers had their home security monitored without being forced to get a landline or the expensive "cellular backup". I don't have Bell or any other landline and use Vonage as my primary phone. Unfortunately, no security company would take up monitoring of our house.
Any thoughts?
DarKev
I have a security system from ADT, but it was installed when I was with Bell Canada. I know that ADT does not approve of the VoIP phone system, and they sent a letter around a couple of months ago warning their customers not to hook the alarm system into a VoIP phone system. Sorry ADT, but I did not heed to that warning.
The letter explained some reasons why do not want people hooking a VoIP telephone system is because of the way the alarm system is hooked up. If the alarm is triggered, the alarm system will shut off the phones in your house to gain access to the phone line to dial out. This prevents the problem where the intruder may lift your phone off the hook disabling the alarm system from calling out. With VoIP, you need to have the telephone feed from the ATA hooked directly to the alarm system, and then the alarm system supplies the telephone feed to the rest of the house. My easy solution to this was to use the 2 free wires in my wall jack to send my Vonage line to the basement where the alarm system is located. The yellow and black wires are generally never used since the phone system only requires 2 wires, the standard wires are always the green and red. However I have my Vonage line hooked into the yellow and black wires, which are then hooked directly into the alarm system. The wires coming out of the alarm system to the rest of my house are the red and green wires. Those wires activate all of the phones in my house. I found this relatively simple to do, but some may want to hire an electrician to accomplish this.
Another reason they do not like VoIP is because they say the transmission of important computer data from the alarm system is garbled. They say this, but I have performed several tests on my alarm system, and each and every time ADT received the proper signal. I guess it depends on the quality of your VoIP.
Another reason they do not like VoIP is due to the fact that it is dependant on your internet connection. If your internet connection is down, you have no phone service.
I know at least one alarm company that is now offering broadband monitoring. Check out this site: http://nextalarm.com
In some ways I feel more protected with my alarm hooked into VoIP. The reason is because I have my Bell phone line running down the side of my house, and the Bell line can be accessed at street level. No ladder, not even a chair would need to be used to access my Bell line (which is dead by the way). If I were a burglar, the first thing I would do is cut the phone line on a house prior to breaking in. If someone were to cut my dead Bell phone line, that would do absolutely nothing. My Vonage VoIP line would continue to work through my cable line, and the alarm company would be contacted. As a result of using VoIP, criminals may be apprehended due to this situation.
As a side note, I think that VoIP is going to really take off over the next 10 years. If the alarm companies are not willing to update their systems to reflect the new technology that is going to be a huge loss of business for them. I good rule of thumb when operating any business is to always keep in mind that the surest things can change. If you live by that rule, you will be more versatile and more accommodating to your customers.
Although I am not in Canada (Atlanta, GA, here) I thought I woluld let you know how my system worked: I have Brinks Home Security monitoring with the "3000" model. When I activated the VOIP household-wide I then contacted Brinks. The system worked perfectly with no additional configuration required by Brinks or me. Too, they were extremely polite regarding the entire matter.
Yes, of course, if the internet goes down so does the monitoring so, unless it is absolutely imperative to have the monitoring with no hitch, then . . . that's something to consider & just my 2 cents worth South of the Border. Wink
Of course to begin/start service is completely different alltogether.

Home security monitoring stations
While the alarm components will detect intrusion, the home security central monitoring station is the force that actually protects your home and family. As a result, understanding the role of the central station should be an important part of your purchasing process.

When your home security alarm is tripped, the control panel sends the relevant details to the central home security monitoring station over standard phone lines. Within 10 seconds, the central station will call your home - or speak through the security keypad if you have dual-communication monitoring - to see if anything is wrong.
If the central monitoring station reaches someone at your home, they'll ask for a passcode to confirm the person belongs there. If they don't hear the right passcode, or if they get no answer, they will immediately send authorities to the scene. The central station will also contact the designated keyholder - a member of your household or a trustworthy neighbor you've chosen to be notified if there's a suspected break-in.
While many small monitored home security companies license the services of third-party home security monitoring stations, larger companies have their own central stations that can simultaneously watch over thousands of homes and businesses. The larger companies cost more than their smaller counterparts or third-party administrators because they are held to a higher standard through verification from the independent, non-profit Underwriters' Laboratories (UL). Large monitored alarm companies pay for the UL to test their products and services for maximum safety and reliability.
Internally managed central stations are required to contact authorities within 45 seconds of the alarm going off. And should they lose power, they must have a reliable backup source - either a second station, or a backup generator with 10-15 days worth of power on reserve.
Find out how the central station operates to know how they will monitor your home security alarm.
How central stations help reduce false alarms
False alarms are a growing concern, and the industry and authorities are focused on preventing them. Make no mistake about it, the protection and safety of your home and family is important. But bringing authorities to the scene when they're not required ties up resources that could be needed elsewhere. Also, those neighbors you depend on to keep a watchful eye on your home while you're not there may not be so helpful if they are constantly disturbed by your alarm needlessly going off.
One way to combat false alarms is to have enough time to enter your passcode and disable the alarm. Most home security systems include an audible delay feature that gives you 30-45 seconds to disable the alarm before the sirens go off.
Dual-tech sensors are one important deterrent. Often times, sensors that operate on their own can accidentally trigger when a wayward curtain or frisky pet passes the device's lenses. With a dual-tech system, two separate components - PIR and microwave - must go off at once to activate the system.
Cellular backups also help avoid false alarms. The backup alerts the home security monitoring station when there is a problem with the regular phone line. Instead of immediately calling police, the monitoring station will call your keyholder to check out the situation. Only if they discover that someone tampered with the phone lines would the police be dispatched.
Despite the millions of homeowners throughout the country that have monitored home security alarms, there are fewer than 10 home alarm companies that actually manufacture the monitoring equipment. These home alarm companies provide the equipment for the thousands of dealers that sell and install alarms.

Dealers for home alarm companies range from large corporations who maintain their own sales forces and local offices to smaller resellers that work as authorized third-party installers for the large corporations or as independent security companies. Regardless of whether you decide to go large or small, installers of home security alarms typically provide all-inclusive services that include equipment and monitoring service.
Keep in mind that while many monitored alarm installers provide name brand or private label equipment compatible with most central monitoring stations, some home security companies may install proprietary systems that only work with their licensed monitoring stations. There may also be master programming and lockout codes that prevent you from making any adjustments to your system, like changing codes on your own or switching monitoring services when your contract has ended. For better flexibility down the road, make sure your system uses non-proprietary components and that you have access to all codes and programming features.
How to choose home alarm companies
When you're ready to buy an alarm, talk to a few different home security companies before having anything installed. They will conduct risk assessments to determine what your security challenges are and how to address them.
Reputable home alarm companies will meet with you in person at your home - never exclusively by phone. They'll look around, discuss your needs and possible limitations, and suggest solutions that have worked for other customers.
Get quotes from three to four different installers. Make sure you get all pricing quotes in writing - including setup, equipment, monthly monitoring fees, and warranties. The first company you speak to may seem to have a fantastic deal, but don't sign anything just yet. Take your time and meet with a few more companies and find out who offers the best balance of price and security.
Once you receive quotes and narrow down your search of home alarm companies, get references from each provider - previous clients who gave permission to be contacted about that dealer's service. Find out why a company chose a particular alarm provider and ask questions about their quality of service:
* Did they install the system quickly, in the timeframe they guaranteed?
* Are they readily available if you have problems?
* Did they explain to everyone in your household how the system works?
* Were the contracts clear and straightforward?
* If you ever experienced an intrusion, did the central station quickly dispatch authorities?
* Will you receive notice ahead of time if the alarm company sells your contract off to another central station?

UL Alarm - home security monitoring
Restore peace of mind by adding professional, 24/7 monitoring to your security system.
* The lowest priced monthly monitoring available
* No long-term contracts required
* Works with alarm systems installed by homeowners or professionally-installed existing systems
Now, for only $8.95 a month, you can have your security system monitored 24/7 by a professional central station that can dispatch the police, fire department or medical aid when there's an emergency.
Alarm monitoring by a UL-listed central station
For years, we at the Home Security Store have looked for a company that would work with the thousands of alarm systems we have sold. While all the monitoring stations we contacted were willing to work with professional installers, none wanted to deal directly with do-it-yourself security systems. Plus, they insisted on gouging you by charging upwards of $30 per month (with an automatic monthly debit from your checking account no less).
One-Third the Price of Other Monitoring Services
By teaming with Alarm Relay, a nationwide provider of professional alarm monitoring services, The Home Security Store now offers customers professional alarm monitoring for about a third of what it would cost through other providers. Alarm Relay, which has been monitoring alarms for decades, operates a state-of-the-art facility in San Diego, CA that serves alarm customers across the country. Alarm Relay's central station is also UL-Listed, which means it has passed a series of inspections by the nation's foremost rating agency, Underwriters Laboratories.
Why Only $8.95?
Unlike other monitoring services that charge upwards of $30 a month, Alarm Relay monitoring is geared for do-it-yourselfers who are adept at maintaining the hardware of the system. So if a battery in the panel or wireless sensor goes bad, you'll be able to fix it yourself (no trucks or technicians required). Those trucks and technicians only add to the cost of monthly monitoring, which is how we can offer monitoring at such a low price. When you sign up for alarm monitoring, a trained technician will phone you and you'll punch in the same codes an alarm installer would to get your system hooked up to the central station. We've also been able to keep the price low by billing customers a year at a time, rather than establishing a time-consuming automatic debit payment structure. No credit reports are required, and apart from a one-time $35 set-up fee, there are no hidden costs. If it takes two hours for you and the technician to program your system, there's no extra charge.
$8.95 a Month for Business and Commercial Users Too
We offer the same rate to all alarm users regardless of their use. If you own a small business and need your store, warehouse, or office monitored, we'll do the job for that same $8.95 rate
Save up to 20% on Homeowner's Insurance Costs
All the big insurance companies offer discounts to policyholders who have a monitored alarm installed. This savings could easily cover the annual fee. Which monitoring company to choose is dependent on what you're looking from in monitoring. So make a list, not based on what any company is offering, but rather on what it is you want in monitoring. Separate those into three categories. Next to each individual item, make a mark if these are absolutes and if they are not there, it doesn’t matter what's the deal, you won't accept it.
The first is the actual monitoring and items that pertained to how the center handles your actual signals. This is the real meat and potatoes of monitoring! What safeguards and security is in place for your information? What certification, listings and training they have? What redundancy is available? What procedures are in place for emergency contingencies at the monitoring center? What backup communications are available and what procedures to ensure reliability of communications are in place?
The second is response to you. How do they respond to your need for notification? What additional features are available such as emergency tech support if you have a runaway alarm? How responsive are they to changing your information and what safeguards are in place to ensure it's you making the changes? When you call them, do they take control and responsibility or are you shuffled between the dealer, installing company or any other entity?
The last is the ancillary features. These are items that are nice but do not indicate anything about the monitoring center's alarm handling. What types of unique communications are available (broadband, etc) and what certification on these items do they hold? How secure do you feel using these ancillary services? Are these ancillary services approaching normalcy in the monitoring field or are they walking the edge? Do these ancillary services improve your security? Do these ancillary services improve you life with the alarm?
The final consideration, when the list is complete, is pure common sense and personal comfort. Think about what it is you want and how all these items mesh together. Does everything make sense to you about what you researched? Are you comfortable with your decision or is there something that lingers unanswered in your mind? Monitoring is all about how your alarm is going to be handled. It's about what if you can't do anything or say anything; will they still be there for you?
Just to clarify, Alarm Relay is a monitoring center. When you deal with them, you're dealing with the actual people monitoring your alarm.

How to Choose a Home Alarm Monitoring Company?
Monitoring companies use special phone lines, computers and trained staff to watch over a home security system and call the appropriate authorities if the alarm goes off. There is a monthly fee for the service. Because quality and experience can vary greatly among monitoring companies, do some homework before choosing one.
Conducting Preliminary Research
Steps:
1. Contact the National Burglar & Fire Alarm Association. Ask them to provide you with a copy of the brochure "Safe and Sound: Your Guide to Home Security," and ask for a list of member companies.
2 Read the brochure and familiarize yourself with some basics about home security and terms used by the industry. Visit security Web sites for more information.
3. Ask your insurance agent, friends and neighbors for referrals.
4. Contact your local police department's crime prevention department, state licensing agencies, consumer protection agencies and the Better Business Bureau. Inquire about the status of the companies you are considering.
Company's Representative
Steps:
1.
Ask the representative how long the company has been in business.
2.
Ask whether the company uses Underwriters Laboratory (UL) listed equipment and whether the monitoring station itself is UL certified.
3.
Ask if the monitoring station is open 24 hours a day, seven days a week, and if the company has a customer service department that is open 24 hours a day, seven days a week.
4.
Ask if the company has a backup monitoring center. If the main center experiences power problems, you want to be sure your home will still be monitored.
5.
Ask if the monitoring center has built-in redundancies for its power, computer and phone lines. If something goes wrong, the redundancy ensures that the center can continue monitoring.
Professional alarm monitoring
Intruders Worst Enemies. A number of things can be done to help to ensure home security. First and foremost, you need to understand how a burglar thinks. Light, time, and noise are an intruder's worst enemies. Your home won't be considered an easy target if a burglar has no option but to work in a well lit area, if the break-in will take a lot of time, and if he can't work in peace and quiet. Darkness and shade offer protection for an intruder and an excellent breach in your home security. Sure, privacy fences and ornate shrubbery look good and offer privacy for your home, but they also offer privacy for criminals. Consider trading a little extra privacy for a bit of added home security. Force any would-be burglar to confront a real enemy--light. Making robbing your home a noisy job can also up your home security. Installing a home security system with an alarm, mounted exterior lights, and door and window detectors will help dissuade an intruder.
